The show was to take place at the Music Star in Norderstedt, a small and one of my favorite clubs on the northers fringes of Hamburg, bringing some culture to that otherwise a little waste land for the engagement of the people running it for years who succeed to bring many unknown and a lot of well known names to play for small but always dedicated audiences - without admission, just for the contents of a piggy passed around. Chucks name might have been a little too big for the small venue, or the recently opened factory converted cultural centre was too tempting, whatever, the show was moved to the bigger venue which took a little of the charme but gave a lot more people the chance to see it. The piggy for admission principle at least was upheld. The "Kulturfabrik" is brandnew, certainly better suited for theatre than rock music, an ample stage but not a very powerful sound system, so it was a little quieter than expected (commented favorably by the little older than expected audience). And a little too brightly lit. But "We at Chuck Prophet inc. take our product seriously", so he deliverd a very nice show, setlist spanning from the last 2 albums to a lot of old goodies, the usual Stephanie tune, less than usual banter (above quote is from the last show I'd seen, 2009, when he talked quite a lot, and hilarious stuff - only thing I missed this time around, he was rather taciturn). Whatever, the spacious venue and the attentive audience created good recording conditions, hardly any chatter, a couple of beer bottles falling over (but no bar in the hall). Lowered some volume spikes, raised the overall levels by 2,4 dB, raised a few more quiet passages by 0,5 - 1,5 dB, applied the leveller manually to close clapping - the recording sounds fine.
