Clifton Chenier & the Red Hot Louisiana Band
Nightstage, Cambridge MA
April 2, 1986

Audience recording from my master cassette

This was a very depressing show. Not only was Clifton well past his prime, he was weeks
away from death. He performed in a wheelchair. He played the club for 3 nights, and if I recall
correctly he dialysis a few times while he was in Boston. He held his accordion but really did
not have the strength to play it. His singing was a pale shadow of what we used to
expect from him. This recoding is clearly a historical document, preserving on of Clifton's
final performances. It should not be expected to be anything near a document of what
Clifton sounded like for most of his life.
