Continental Drifters
"Moments"
Bremen, Germany Jan 24 1996
Radio broadcast

We have a little Continental Drifters flood here on Dime, and lonetaper asked me to look into my shelves for more recordings, so here we go with a radio broadcast from 1996. What an exceptional band that was - and there's even the hope of a reunion, as they played a gig on May 1, 2009, in New Orleans. You can find a recording of that gig at http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=249047.

A quick artwork file is attached - better artwork is always welcome.

You can find a link to a mp3 sample in the comments section.

The way of the sound:

DSR (Digitales Satelliten Radio) > DSR Receiver > VHS tape, stereo audio tracks > happy hard disk
Cutting, tracking, volume adjustment > FLAC > Dime

DSR was a digital radio stream via satellite (and cable) in Germany and Switzerland until the end of 1998. The DSR stream had a bitrate of 1.024 MBit/sec(!), the sampling rate was 32 000 Hz at 16bit. It was a proprietary codec ("DSR-Codec"), no data compression like in a MPEG stream.

Enjoy the show!
