Preliminary remark 1:
BIG thanks to my dear brother-in-crime Real-O-Mind for sharing his incredible collection.
Especially this fantastic recording here
STEVE WYNN & THE CONTINENTAL DRIFTERS - Philadelphia 1997-10-09 G2 MASTER RECORDING
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=237617
brought \n
lots of sweet memories. Knowing that there are not so many Drifters live tapes
around (especially compared to available Steve Wynn recordings...hehehe), i've checked our
archive and came up with this fine show here, hoping for some interest...
Preliminary remark 2:
As far as i know NONE of this recording was ever used commercially.
This recording here comes directly from the "Men With Microphones" archive.
"MWM" started in the 70ies in South Germany with analog recording equipment,
and at least two of them are still recording sometimes (since the 90ies on DAT,
and, lazy as we are, since lately with small, handheld WAV-recorders on SD-cards).
The "MWM" startet as a project of friends sharing their hobbies together. But by
reason of jobs, partners and other interests the circle of all involved shrinked.

About this concert:
The first Blue Rose Supergroup...
and it seemed that nearly nobody outside Germany or Europe noticed...anything.
Released as Blue Rose #3 (after Kate Jacobs and Peter Wells...) in Autumn 1996 by Blue Rose,
their first CD "Continental Drifters" was/is a timeless masterpiece and testified the excellent
musical taste of BR-Edgar. Six incredible musicians, all multiinstrumentalists and gifted
songwriters, all with their own history in music...
Their first short European tour 1996 confirmed their uniqueness with intimate shows, creating
goosebumps all over...a few recordings are circulating.
As eyewitness we could not wait for the next record, the next tour...especially
after we've seen a couple of their SXSW-appearances in Austin, TX. 1998.
And their second CD "Vermilion" crowned it all...musically, songwise and with CD-sales.
This concert here was recorded during their second European tour, Summer 1998.
They performed, with an incredible joy of playing, a wide selection of their own songs, and
also the coversongs showed their fine taste: starting and ending with a Richard Thompson
tune, Gram Parsons, Crazy Horse, Duane Eddy, and a composition by Wayne Carson Thompson,
a former hit song for Memphis pop music group of the late 1960s, the Box Tops...
Two Tascam DAT recorders linked to the board, one was H.P.'s DA-20, so this recording could have
also been from the "miseryman-collection", and there could have been some trades worldwide...
BUT:
The master DAT for this torrent here comes directly from the other machine, good old DA-30.
And it's truly untraded - so far. Comparing both recordings showed some differences - not only
in the sampling rate. The decision to release "our" DA-30 tape was easy...just tracking & done...
SO, FIRST TIME OUT OF OUR ARCHIVE, AND ABSOLUTELY UNALTERED - PLEASE ENJOY!
