Continental Drifters
Howlin' Wolf
New Orleans, LA., Aug 10, 2001
Audience Edit

This time we have a 2001 gig from the Howlin' Wolf in New Orleans. This show is probably the last show of the first incarnation of the Continental Drifters. Four weeks later 9-11 changed so much, the Drifters cancelled tour of Europe, and later Susan and Russ left the band.

The Howlin' Wolf show was passionate and intense, and in my opinion the recording captures that. There are great drifterized versions of "Those Were the Days", "Cresent City" and a 12 minute version of "Who We are, Where We Live". Duane Jarvis did the supoort, sorry I don't have this, and came back on "Crescent City".

Many thanks again to lonetaper who pushed me to look at my Drifters recordings. What an exceptional band that was - and there's even the hope of a reunion, as they played a gig on May 1, 2009, in New Orleans. You can find a recording of that gig at
