OldNeumanntapr Notes-
My friend Gene bought his Sony TCD-D10 DAT recorder in mid to late 1989. He used to ship it to me to record West coast Grateful Dead shows, and he would record east coast shows. The D10 was the first Sony portable that was sold in the US and it was the size of a text book. It was a really nice recorder but to say it was difficult to smuggle in for stealth taping is an understatement! Gene managed to get it inside a Dylan show in ’89 by staggering around and pretending he was drunk to cause a diversion while his girlfriend walked in with it strapped to the inside of her thigh! I’m not sure how he managed to get the D10 into this show, which was a three way package with Merle Haggard, George Jones, And Conway Twitty.
