The Basie Orchestra played two shows at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts,
2pm and 5pm. I was there for both of them. The first show was taped from
front row center, just a few feet in front of the solo mics, so the brass
solos are very hot, but not distorted. Listen to it with headphones and you'll
hear what it's like to have this band blowing at you from ten feet away.
Most of what you hear other than vocals is acoustic, rather than from the PA.
