03. "FISH" Cheer / I-Feel-Like-I'm-Fixin'-To-Die Rag

Total Time ::: 9:21

::: VG++ stereo FM. Check samples for "Hell, no, I won't download" or for earfood appetizers.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Some low level distortion throughout. #03 seems muddier than rest. AUD mixed up loud between songs to make it exciting (argh)! Moderator does crap voiceover #01 intro & #03 outro directly over music.
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This is an Mk2 remaster of "Mk1"hanwaker version on"Country Joe '70-73 Collection"2010 DIME upload (no longer on the tracker).
::: Thanks to hanwaker for orig. C.Joe comp source upload & for replacing my misplaced one!
::: ABC"In Concert"Show #16 broadcast 1973-09-28: Country Joe McDonald&His All-Star Band(3)//Uriah Heep(3)//Canned Heat(4)//Shawn Phillips(2)//Mott the Hoople(2).
::: Country Joe wasn't listed in"TV Guide"for this"In Concert"episode,but WAS in newspaper ads.
::: ABC"In Concert"Friday 11:30pm EST bi-weekly music show, pre-taped performances from several concerts.
::: Proper show name "Wide World of Entertainment: In Concert" but usually called "ABC In Concert".
::: This recording has moderator Chip Monck ABC "In Concert" voiceover intro&outro.
::: Newspaper AD for this TV show/broadcast _ https://aadl.org/node/195962
::: chickenonaunicycle.com says"BBC" film date 1973-08-22 but presumably a typo for "ABC".
::: Joe not in London in Aug'73 as per timelines & BBC Genome has no UK broadcast listing for this.
::: Joe's site says 1973-08-22 filmed"In Concert"; 45mins, with Joshua ((band or light show?)).
::: 1973-08-22 filming date fits fine with the 1978-09-28 broadcast date for this program.
::: Joe in Atlanta 18th & Vancouver 24th. Many"In Concert"sets in Santa Monica,CA but it varied.
::: "Mk1"had this as "1973 Nov/Dec BBC In Concert AM radio", but that info seems mostly incorrect.
::: Joe's EU tour began in London 1973-11-13, by which time this show had already aired in the USA.
::: Anna Rizzo left Joe's band mid-Aug after Atlanta show & Ginny Whiticker replaced her.
::: Joe's All-Star Band line-up was rather fluid & often featured Tucki Bailey on reeds a.o. musicians.
::: Joe's most recent album at this time was "Paris Sessions", issued '72, featuring the All-Star band.
::: Dorothy Moskowitz hailed from the extraordinary mindblast band, The United States of America.
::: Likely Ginny Whitaker is same drummer who later played w/Buckner&Garcia on "Pac-Man Fever"!
::: Peter Albin, STILL of Big Bro&The Holding Co. was in Country Joe&The Fish/Dinosaurs/Fish 'N Chips/Barry Melton Band/etc.
::: Xtra Joe factoid #01: '72 original "Fantasy"45A-side NOT LP version but one backed by the Pretty Things (also on"Best Of Country Joe"CD).
::: Xtra Joe factoid #01:“Fixin’ to Die”described as"execrable"in copyright infringement case analysis: https://blogs.law.gwu.edu/mcir/case/ory-v-country-joe-mcdonald

DimeTravel 785 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders & uploaders, including The Man In The Palace & DIMER hanwaker! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: This era of Country JOe is often overlooked, as (IMO) the album production scared off a lot of oldtimers & potential newcomers - but the proof is in the live pudding & MANY albums&album trax in the 70s are outstanding. I love the Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks vibes, among a multitude of other things. The original plan was another collection but spitting out the notes for everything & combining & matching levels & evening out the gaps seemed too onerous, especially as I am sure a number of you would split it right down again... Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees
