Total Time ::: 1:20:57

::: VG++ mono SBD. Check samples for "sounds fishy", to go fishin' for bait, to hook the big catch.
::: Warts: Repaired dullspots & dropouts but surely missed a few. Mk1+Mk2 some hiss but less in Mk2. #01 bit of tape drag 1st 30secs (in talking). #04 taper lowered levels a lot after a minute&when fixed, hiss increased. Set 2 lesser quality as miking changed w/more ambient room mix&less guitars&direct vox mikes thru PA. Some split second mike popping "p"s", fixed most of them (100+). Erratic tape/performance levels (mostly repaired here but hiss varies).
::: COMPARISON CLAUSE: This is the Mk1 NO EQorNR version. The less hissy Mk2 lite NR+NO EQ version is available elsewhere.
::: Barry's most recent LP"Level With Me"issued late'78. "We Are Like The Ocean"issued in early'78.
::: #25 is the only song played from any Melton solo album here, it appeared on "The Fish" in 1976.
::: Joe's"Leisure Suite"LP probably out late '79. No songs here & he doesn't mention it.
::: Old tapes&lists had only date&"High House"for location, presumably a taper joke for "Light House".
::: Light House aka "Lighthouse"(between Allentown&Easton)seemingly around only a couple of years.
::: Thanks to DIMER gv0000 for lots of missing city/venue research. Barry's comments narrowed it down to a ~50mile radius!
::: Thanks to Barry & Joe for the memory attempts with the incorrect venue listing...
::: Show seems like it continued after "Kiss My Ass". Do YOU have more and/or an upgrade?

Recording Information ::: mono soundboard -> unknown tape recorder -> unknown generations (probably analog-only) -> unknown generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette, Dolby B on.

Playback 2021-02-xx ::: unknown generation Maxell XLII-90 cassette on Nakamichi 680ZX cassette deck, Dolby B on, azimuth adjusted for individual tape, heads cleaned & demagnetized -> Sony Linear PCM Recorder PCM-M10 (48kHz/24bit wav file) -> computer -> Audacity [normalisation to remove DC offset (NOT to normalize volume), channel/phase alignment, fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, clap, pop, click, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, +1.9% single averaged pitch (speed) fix with single pass per segment after frequency analysis & with CD key verification, NO equalisation (except lite 50kHz notch), NO noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> 48kHz/24bit flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. (NOTE: 2 track mono soundboard tape but Lchan more high end, so after repairs/patches, used Lchan only - NOT advised to combine channel sources unless the channels are roughly the same kHz. Line-up ::: Country Joe McDonald - acoustic & electric guitars, trombone, harmonica, vocals // Barry Melton - acoustic & electric guitars, kazoo, vocals.

Nothing here ever commercially released to my knowledge. If I'm wrong, please advise & I'll take the offending trax offline.

DimeTravel 783 ::: Thanks to the original taper & traders! Sincere thanks to whomever uploads this for me. ::: Corrections welcome ::: Always liked this recording & now it sounds much better with less interruptions. First set is not only better quality, but they seem more energetic. Fine song selection, though a lot of crowd pleasers. Cool we get "All I Need" from "Zachariah", the cowboy western. A number of the Joe solo songs work well w/the duo, like Barry backing Joe on "Sexist Pig"! The two work very well off each other. Have at it & see. Listen, enjoy, show appreciation, share, give, spread peace. Yrs truly, Knees

Assorted summer '79 gigs, billed as: Country Joe McDonald, Country Joe&The Fish, Country Joe McDonald&Barry Melton. A lot of this is gv0000's work, adding to my efforts, plus several dates from the excellent www.chickenonaunicycle.com site. List surely incomplete. Anyone have corrections, other dates, or have tapes of these shows? Assuming it's all sharable, could someone up the complete 1979-09-08 14 song set? At the moment can only locate 5mins. Summer '79 tour(s), whether billed as such or not, were Woodstock 10th anniversary gigs. Joe&Barry likely somewhat fed up with it, presumably the source of running gags in this PA show about everything being for sale, including Barry hawking his "guitar picks from Woodstock", etc. 1979-06-16 Rockford,IL Charlotte's Web (presumably C.Joe solo) /// 1979-07-03 Grass Valley,CA Nevada County Fairgrounds (Joe&Barry) /// 1979-07-06+07 New York,NY The Other End (Joe&Barry) /// 1979-07-10 Cambridge,MA Jonathan Swift's (Joe&Barry) /// 1979-07-11 Philadelphia,PA Stars (Joe&Barry) /// 1979-07-15 gig?
