The performance:

Kurt and Courtney (no, not that one, silly!) come to L.A.'s iconic Amoeba Music (soon to be gentrified housing) in
support of their collaborative effort "Lotta Sea Lice". It's a fantastic collection of songs that channels a mix of
indie pop, shoegaze and PrEagles-era Linda Rondstadt. It's hard edged music with the corners nicely smoothed and polished.
The two really are in synch on the album and their live performances, playfully flip flopping their names on the album
cover and transposing their voices on their video for "Over Everything". They are in very good company with The Violator's
Rob Laakso on bass and Sleater-Kinney's Janet Weiss and Katie Harkin on drums and keys respectively. They play a short and
quite literally sweet set of 6 songs from said album. They close with a heartaching duet of Belly's "Untogether" which is
more than slightly reminescent of Tanya Donnelly and Thom Yorke's version from nearly 25 years past. I am really looking
forward to hearing Courtney's upcoming collab with alt-superstars, the Breeders. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable performance.

The recording:

I was positioned directly facing the right ceiling stack array, some 30 feet away. I was a bit further from the speakers
than I generally like to be but thanks go to ijwthstd for nabbing me a prime location as everyone had already filed in by
the time I had arrived. At least I wasn't stuck underneath the rafters like I was for DC4C. I was fortunate to have some
pretty quiet people around me. The guy to my right clapped between songs, most of which has been carefully attenuated. At
times you could hear a fucking pin drop. Between songs there is the requisite Woo-Hooing. Thankfully none of those people
were anywhere near me. For those willing to wait, I believe Nic Harcourt stated that KCRW would broadcast the performance
on October 27th. Still, this is as close to a perfect recording that it gets for me and my modest rig.
