These tapes, as well as the 2004 and 2005 Cyndi Lauper shows I recently posted, were sent to me for mastering by duranie. The notes below are a condensation of his recollections sent to me in our PMs.


Duranie says:

"In October 2011... Cyndi Lauper and Dr. John did a co-headline tour together, 16 cities I think. Strange matchup, if you ask me... but they did it.

I went to them all, including Buffalo.

Dr. John opened. Cyndi came out for 1 - 3 songs near the end of his set. Every night was different. Then Cyndi came out after and did her own set (Dr. John did NOT come out during her set)

There's a whole lot of chatter/banter this night.

The Oct 2011 tour with Dr. John was the 5th or 6th leg of her blues tour. She toured her Blues album extensively, but this was her only Buffalo stop of all the legs.

In 2011, there was very long 2-3 minute intro to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" played on the electric organ. It was different every night, she just let him improvise. And Girls itself was always 10+ minutes long each night, with her ad libbing and such. I usually don't care for the song much (overexposure...) but she had fun with it in 2011.

I really enjoyed listening to this show while writing down the setlist tonight. These shows have not been shared at all. I didn't "love" the 2011 tour as I followed it, so I haven't done much (or anything) with all those recordings. I was so OVER the Blues album after so many legs.....but now, 5 years later, I am glad I did so many. Song variations and such."
