"DADDY is Americana at its roots-rockingest best - honest
music that makesits case with equal parts chops and smiles."
- Billy Altman, Los Angeles Dailey News (March 24, 2009)
"They believe in no particular order in JESUS, ELVIS, and
KEITH...Aboveall else, they believe in ROCK 'N' BY GOD ROLL."
Rick Cornell, NoDepression
Another great evening at The Prince Albert.
Will and Tommy showcasing songs from both their solo
careers and collaborative efforts in the guise of Daddy.
Go to the shows and buy their CDs - you won't be disappointed !!
- Mick, Bluesmick Production (May 25, 2010)
This was their first Dutch show ever.
If it would be a succes they plan to come more often.
It was a fantastic show, only one thing was wrong: it was too short.
To judge by the enthusiasm of the audience we will see them more often in the future.
They guys rock!
- Sylvia, Dutchbird Production (June 2, 2010)
Drawing on juke-joint blues, swampy-groove country and a lot of rock and roll, with stops
in gospel and beat-poet territory along the way, DADDY (Will Kimbrough & Tommy Womack) has
been hailed by critics and fans alike for their incendiary live performances and recordings
that embrace a wide scope of what's great about American music.
Together, Kimbrough and Womack just click. Kimbrough’s wide-ranging abilities, sweet and
reckless by turns, dovetails with Womack’s slash-and-burn style to produce a sound that
is both exciting and heartfelt.
Folk Singer Blues (Nashville, TN)
Daddy raised the roof on February 18th and 19th in Frankfort Kentucky, invading a Women's
Club building that dated back 100 years or better to record this album LIVE. Tommy Womack
and Will Kimbrough brought their songwriting to the table while teaming up with Dave Jaques
(bass guitar, Johh Deaderick (keys) and Paul Griffith (drums). What a team they were.
Will Kimbrough announced that Daddy was a Jam Band for people who like ragtime and they
proceeded to rock the house with tune after tune of raw unadulterated rock and roll with a
hint of delta blues, 70's rock and Kimbrough/Womack talent. Every track on the album reveals
a fresh approach by two songsters that have became comfortable with the fact that being
Daddies has made them better. Seasoning them to perfection like a fine Christmas feast.
The songs speak for themselves, the sounds will heal the wounds that have been dealt by
mediocre rock radio that has permeated the Clear Channel world dominate soundwaves.
Daddy is Rock and Roll Therapy needed in the worst way! Daddy is the best kept secret
that Nashville is not gonna be able to keep in the bag!
Would you kindly note that this torrent includes NO COVERS ?
NO need to say "thank you"...
GRAB YOUR PINSEL & DRAW THEM ON YOUR OWN !
And as promised, i'll try to avoid from now on
to write about "ANOTHER "MUST-HAVE" SHOW" ;-)
THE SOUND HERE ?
It's a deafmusic production - 'NUFF SAID !
if you're still beset BY DOUBTS,
please check the samples...or better:
LEAVE IT, GRAB SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT !!

Norderstedt is a city in Germany and part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region
(Metropolregion Hamburg), the fifth largest city (with approximately 75.000
inhabitants) in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Norderstedt was created
by the merger of four towns (Friedrichsgabe, Garstedt, Glashütte and Harksheide)
on 1 January 1970, and was then assigned to the district of (Kreis) Segeberg.
"Wir möchten interessierten Mitbürgern 'ehrliche und handgemachte' Musik nahebringen.
Musik die im Radio und TV nicht gespielt wird und auch sonst keinerlei Lobby hat."
Im Norderstedter MusicStar finden im Jahr etwa 50 Konzerte mit
internationalen Künstler aus Folk, Blues und Rock statt.

the Taubmusik recording/transfer 1:
PLEASE NOTE: DON'T ASK ABOUT MORE SPECIFIC DETAILS IN THIS SECTION HERE !
The taper and mixing engineer deafmusic cannot remember the brand of cables
he had used during this tour - definitely them expensive ones with 24 carat
fully golden connectors and thick twisted pure silver wires - and he even
won't remember exactly all his particular handholds in the final mix here.
My dear buddy hanwaker usually always writes about "his" uploads
of other people's recordings: "Don't ask - I'm just the messenger !"
SO THERE'S NOTHING MORE TO ADD - TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT...
SBD desk > analog line > Zoom H2 (16/44.1) > SD-Card > Medion PC w/ Creative soundcard >
> Creative Wave Studio (edits, normalize, indices) > CD-Rs
and what lonetaper did (nearly nothing, as usual...) - the transfer 2:
CD-Rs > Motherboard with AMD Multicore Processor, Serial ATA Interface > Exact Audio Copy > WAV files >
> right now: 1TB Western Digital Harddisc with Thermaltake HD Cooler (EVER had a HardDisc burnout ??) >
> lonetaper's secret box of miracles # > Traders Little Helper (level 6 encoding, align on sector boundaries) >
> FLAC (TLH again: test encoded audio files, check audio for SBE, show audio file details) > DIME
# -> Frizze NAILED THIS SHOW HERE...
-> so NO additional EQ'ing was used here, and none of those
compressors, Sonic Maximizers or other psychoacoustic processors.
it sounds completely the way it was distinguishable that night in this venue...IF NOT BETTER !
Dad accentuated just all the spoken passages inbetween the songs, averagely +5,0 dB
(with the same amount of digital hiss reduction), and balanced the stereo channels.
The only further addition was a short fade-in at the beginning, and a fade-out at
the end, after the audience applause, so truly NO MUSIC was harmed or lost.
this upload here comes directly from the "Men With Microphones" archives.
if you want to know more about, check the old uploads...lotta stuff to read !
DE FACTO THIS IS FROM - deafmusic - ANOTHER PRICELESS "TAUBMUSIC" MASTERPIECE...
Leo once wrote:
VERY SPECIAL THANKS, from the bottom of my heart, to my longtime
friend & fellow DIMEr deafmusic for opening his incredible archive.
Parts of the "Deafmusic Collection" are also in the "MWM"-vaults, as we
did not only trade with each other for 30+ years, we also viewed and
recorded a bunch of shows together, as friends, music fans and concert
promoters, usually with a bunch of Tascams and Sony's in a row...
BIG BIG THANKS TO DADDY Will and DADDY Tommy, PLUS everyone
involved @ Music Star - especially Wolfgang, Andrea, Lena & Sally.
And if there's some interest, maybe there is MORE TO COME...
it just depends on YOUR demeanor, and lotta useful comments ;-)
Alabama homeboy Will Kimbrough (2005 Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year)
and Kentucky-bred Tommy Womack (Two-time winner of the Nashville Scene Best Song Award) first
came together in 1992 in the bis-quits, who made one impressive guitar-fest record for John
Prine's Oh-Boy! label. They discovered a musical and personal kinship that has continued to
grow over the years and individual careers - which is now DADDY. Sounding like The Faces with
two Ron Woods backed by echoes of Los Lobos and The Band's reverence for all American music,
DADDY released their first studio album - FOR A SECOND TIME - this summer. While DADDY primarily
tours as an acoustic duo, the full band made its official industry debut at this year's SXSW
Music Festival in Austin, TX with three blistering shows in one day.
Comprised of Kimbrough & Womack, and heavy-hitter A-listers John Deaderick (Dixie Chicks,
Michael McDonald, Patty Griffin), Paul Griffith (one of Nashville¹s most sought-after session
drummers) and Dave Jacques (John Prine, Emmylou Harris), the band could not afford the trip.
Armed with a lot of content, creativity and a small window of time, DADDY asked their fans for
help getting the band to SXSW '09 in Austin, TX. In return for a small donation, each fan received
a limited-edition, one-of-a-kind "Live At Norm's" CD package with 12 tracks from recent live
recordings, including several new songs from their forthcoming studio album - FOR A SECOND TIME.
The band raised over $4,000 in nine days. After returning from Texas, DADDY followed up with
another fan-exclusive limited-edition CD - "Rare & Unreleased, Vol. 1" - which helped fund the
final stages of the new release.
The band wanted to show appreciation to those early believers. On Mother's Day, the band launched
a "Name Your Own Price" pre-order campaign. DADDY was gambling, but the average price offered by
fans was a generous $15.36 (more than double that of the average price paid by Radiohead fans).
In addition to the new CD, the pre-order campaign was expanded to offer exclusive DADDY mugs,
magnets and steins as well as One-Of-A-Kind Hand Illustrated DADDY Ties, Two DADDYs (Will AND
Tommy) to Play Ball with your kids for 90-minute session, One DADDY (Will or Tommy) to Mow Your
Yard and Autographed, and an Original Artwork-embellished Toro Rake and Vac Leaf Blower, which
sold to one lucky fan in Pomeroy, IA. "Everybody's looking for a new angle nowadays, something
nobody's tried before, and garden implements are IT," says Womack. "What says 'Daddy' better
than a leaf-blower? Okay, an outdoor grill maybe, but we're not going to ship an outdoor grill."
DADDY's new studio record - FOR A SECOND TIME - was released just in time for Father's Day '09.
Consistent with the band's 2005 fan-favorite live CD - AT THE WOMEN'S CLUB - DADDY's new album
is a seamless mesh of rock, gospel, rockabilly and gritty juke-joint blues.
FOR A SECOND TIME - #1 on the Euro-Americana Music Chart, August 2009!
"For A Second Time' may well be THE BEST COLLECTION OF PURE
MUSIC-MAKING THAT YOU'LL HEAR OUT OF NASHVILLE THIS YEAR."
- Rev. Keith A. Gordon, Blurt!
"...They meet through their humor as lyricists and their shared love of
GOOD OLD-FASHIONED SWAMP-BRED GUITAR RIFFS, and as amply evidenced throughout
this album, the result is AN INFECTIOUSLY GOOD TIME for all concerned."
"The musical approach is rustic, recalling hints of Dylan, the Band, Clapton,
the Allman Brothers, and Little Feat. Give this Daddy the respect it deserves."
- New Times
"...FANS OF ANYONE FROM DYLAN to WILCO will find plenty to like about DADDY."
PLEASE support the artists, visit their concerts,
