comments:
this is a seamless recording, and no songs are interrupted.
there are several suitable disc break options for this.
Dave mentions that he had a "frog in his throat" for this show,
but still managed to put on a nice concert (including his singing).
I took a liking to them a couple of years earlier, and for a few
reasons this group became a huge hit a year or two before this.
by this point they may have reached peak popularity, which still
remains pretty high. This concert features music from mostly the
under the table and dreaming and crash CD's, I don't know where in
the building this was recorded but it sounds pretty good, the
performance is spirited and inspired and the playing is tight.
The audience was into it but they don't come through much at all
in the recording (even in the encore break). I think I know who
recorded this but not sure and don't know if that person wants to be
identified in a post of this, only that like most fans of the DMB (and
the band too) free circulation of DMB audience audio is cool with him,
and alot of people like them alot. not too hard to understand why.
crash into me and too much were both big hits at this time, tripping
billies and ants marching and so much to say had become 90's classics.
some have even suggested Dave Matthews Band is the biggest rock related
type band of the 90's, and one of the most popular to see live. I think
they won some sort of an award for their live performances around this time.
I never saw the DMB. But I've enjoyed a few of their released albums which
include a couple of live albums, one before this era and another from
New Jersey, (Continental Airlines Arena). strange place to record
a live album. The PBS network used that N.J. show to raise funds, and
it worked out pretty well for them. that show was also released on DVD,
(their first live DVD). they have another live album recorded in
Boulder, Co. and an EP taken from 2 Feb. 94 shows in Virginia (U.S.A.),
all the other released live DMB I saw in their discography is from after
1998. there are a few. Before Dave had a song called crush, he had one
called crash into me. there were alot of well recognized songs.
The DMB played 2 nights at the Fleet Center this time through.
(also Oct. 2nd).
