David Grisman Quintet
May 19th, 2000
Smith Opera House
Geneva New York

Found this in the old boot box during some fall cleaning.
Etree has an entry for this show, but relatively little info
is on the web regarding this particular roio. I searched the
Dimebot and found no record of this show in the bot archive.
The material here is mostly from the "Dawganova" CD.
Lots of gabbing here by Dave, and bad jokes from everyone
all around, especially during the phony intro of the DJQ alter ego
"Blue Blades of Grass" for their encore set.
Definitely an audience recording; the sound is somewhat
distant but not unenjoyably so. The mix of instruments is fine and clear; you may decide for yourself by checking out the sample below. I first saw Grisman live in Sarasota at the Ringling Museum and first listened to him on the Grappelli "Live" LP way back when. Hearing this brings back memories of my first appreciations of DG, his humor, artfulness and consummate musicianship.
Pleas help with the few missing track names if you can...Thanks!
