David Lindley & El Rayo X
Cotati Cabaret, Cotati, CA 7-14-85 late show

Stealth soundboard recording: recorded without the knowledge or consent of David Lindley or of The Cotati Cabaret.*

lineage: soundboard > analog cassette master> Zefiro ZA2 soundcard > Sound Forge > CD Architect > EAC > .wav files > .flac files (mastered to cdr by Easy Ed.)

I did not record these shows. I, Easy Ed, borrowed the master soundboard cassettes from the person who recorded them (who will remain un-named) and mastered these cds from them. I did send a copy of all the Cotati Cabaret shows (and all the rest of my live Lindley) in my collection to David Lindley when he was making his live El Rayo X cd and he did telephone me and thank me, in fact, we had a great chat that lasted an hour.

*Lindley was very anti-taping in those days. One time, after discovering a video for sale in Japan of one of his shows recorded at the Cabaret, he refused to load any of his equipment into the club until the club's videocamera was removed from the premises (even though the bootleg video had been taped by an audience member from the floor, not from the club's camera at the soundbooth). After that he would routinely check the connections in the back of the soundboard when he came into the club; so we took off the bottom of the soundboard and soldered in connections and ran a stealth feed into another room where I would lay, cramped, running my deck to get a board recording.

A scan of the flyer for the show is included in the torrent. Pictures taken at the '85 show are included in the torrent. A scan of an autographed picture of David Lindley from the time period is included.
