David Lindley & El Rayo-X
Aug. 23, 1987
"Mountain Aire II"
Calaveras County Fairgrounds, Angels Camp, CA.
Lineage:
SBD/"in house FM" -> unknown receiver -> Sony D5 -> Nakamichi CR-1A -> Mac Pro with Sound Studio -> FLAC (using xAct)
Taper: Jason W.
Mountain Aire II was a two day affair produced by Bill Graham. David Lindley & El Rayo-X opened the show followed by Santana and the Grateful Dead were the headliners.
I've already uploaded the David Lindley & El Rayo-X show from Aug 22nd and it can be found here

I don't know all the specifics but for a short time in the late 80's the Grateful Dead's sound man Dan Healy would broadcast an FM signal to speakers in the hallway or the delay stacks at larger venues. If you were able to tune in to the "broadcast" you could tape the show.
That's how this tape was made.
Jason said, "I was able to patch in 2nd in the line at least one day. A taper had a boom box and we took the FM feed off the headphone's output. So, I have to give him credit, too."
My tape is a first gen. cassette off of Jason's master.
The only flaws are:
A bit of static throughout Talk To The Lawyer - it sounds like the guy with the boom box is fine tuning the signal.
The volume fluctuates at the very beginning of Talk To The Lawyer but settles down right away.
David & El Rayo put on a great show both days so I give the performance an A+.
I think the sound quality on this one is slightly better than the 22nd so I'll give it an A.
