- Sadly, the old Cuesta College Auditorium is no more. The old auditorium, on the old National Guard army base, was built back during World War II and was not deemed worthy of retro fitting for California earthquake standards. It had awesome acoustics! It was an old wooden building, and was a ‘shoebox-style’ auditorium with the stage on one of the narrow ends. It looked like hell, with pealing paint and a leaky roof, but sounded SO GOOD! I’ve seen/recorded many shows there. This was a good show. The last time I recorded David Lindley there was with my Neumann KM-184’s. Even with custom-made shortened XLR cables the KM-184’s were still too difficult to stealth record with, so I sold them and upgraded to the Neumann SKM-140 set with active cables.
