Deep Purple

Nagoya, JAP
Shikokaido Hall
1975-12-08 (december 8th)

source: audience recording
length: 101.03
quality: Poor

Of all Purple-eras I only collect Mark IV, not all gigs were great but it´s the lineup that I like the most. I´d like to try and flush out the best possible recordings of some of the poorer quality ones, and this one does not sound very good. I´ve had 3 different versions on cassette and this is the "best" but there must be a lower generation without the clicks and the hiss somewhere.

This is indeed a sad gig, the first in Japan with this lineup and the first gig with Tommy´s selfinflicted arminjury. While I do not condone his behaviour or the use of drugs I really do love the man anyway, and when he was good he was unstoppable. Even with the incredibly bad performance given by him the rest of the band tries to pick up the slack. Glenn is, as always, very very good. Lord and Paice rule. Simple as that. The setlist is great too, the downunder- and japanese gigs easily had the best sets during the tour. Watch for an embryo of Perfect Strangers during Jon´s intro for Soldier of fortune (at the end of I need love). And do stay away from Tommys solo. It´s abysmal.

Osaka and Fukuoka will follow, so if YOU have a known gen copy of either, or at least a copy that sounds good - please upload a sample and we´ll compare notes.

Haters please stay away. Get your outlet somewhere else.
