Now What?! 2014 world tour.

Deep Purple is a band I always wanted to see but was never able to, so I was very happy when it was announced they would perform
in Ventura. Seeing Ian Paice play was a dream come true for me.

Unfortunately, the Ventura Fair decided to change their seating set-up this year. They removed the entire first section of seats
in front of the stage and created a giant GA pit...in the dirt (this is the Raceway grounds, after all). Behind that pit, a section
of seats finally began but they were reserved for fair staff and volunteers. If you were a fair-goer, your first opportunity to
find a seat was in the section behind that, equal to the soundboard. Now, in this 'venue,' the soundboard is a lengthy distance
from the stage, so it's not exactly a prime location. I've included a non-zoomed photo (#26) in the pics folder as an example.
After waiting three hours in the queue outside only to discover I had to sit in an area that used to require only an hour wait was
not a pleasant feeling. Also, being that far back, the natural phasing that occurs at this place is intensified. I have to admit
that it makes for an annoying listen and I recommend this recording only for the faithful.

On the positive side, there wasn't someone near me who talked through the whole show, which was a first for me at this fair. There
is some brief chatter during "Contact Lost," in the beginning of Lazy" and during the keyboard solo. There's also brief, light
clapping at the beginnings of "Hush" and "Black Night" that might sound like pops, but they're not. And as usual, Ventura beach
weather equates wind and that can be heard between most tracks. There are some particularly bad wind moments, though: once in
"Vincent Price," once in "Perfect Strangers," twice in "Space Truckin'" and a lot of it during the encore. I initially attempted
to remove it, but my efforts weren't very subtle, so I decided to leave it all alone.

If burning to cd, the suggested split is between "Hell To Pay" and Don Airey's solo.
