I didn't even know Deodato was playing at Ronnie Scott's. I had set out to see the bar upstairs and maybe listen to and record the live music there. The bouncer suggested that instead I buy (some of the few remaining) tickets for the club. I looked at the listing and saw Deodato and couldn't believe it. At that time the early show was just finishing.

The performance was top notch. In between songs he stood up and spoke into a mic but it was whisper quiet.
