Recording Notes:
- Had to record this on the DL, so I had to set the levels and stash it in my knit hat and just hope for the best. During the band intros, I readjusted it somewhat, exposing the mics more and the sound seems improved from that point on as a result.
- I don't like this recording as much as my Ray LaMontagne recording from last month. It's only my 4th attempt and I feel that I won't be satisfied until I take the next step with some good quality external mics. If anybody has any recommendations, I'm all ears.

Performance Notes:
- Derek was MONSTEROUS! Which shouldn't be any surprise at this point...but it stands to be said, as he certainly was well in control this evening. He reigned all evening with his typical cool, calm & collected sense of quiet cerebral intensity, exploring new melodic realms and dropping numerous jaws in the process. The blissful and dreamy "This Sky", the ferocious "Kam-Ma-Lay" and the amazing 21min "Favorite Things" are not to be missed.
- The band was rock solid tonight, allowing for the creation of musical caverns just ripe for Derek's exploration. Rico played his ass off...Todd anchored the groove like clockwork...Mike's voices sounded great - raspy and sweet...Kofi made the best of some keyboard related technical difficulties and really threw down with on the flute when called upon...and the Count continuously added the perfect percussive accents needed to round out the musical gumbo that is this band.

Major Douchebag Alert:
- I had two drunken idiots sitting behind me for the show and occasionally they would talk to one another as if a concert wasn't even going on in front of them. Finally, I had to turn around and give them the official "STFU stink-eye"...sadly to little to no effect. The 1st few notes of "Favorite Things" had me leaning at the edge of my seat in preparation, knowing full well the onslaught that was about the be unloaded. The drunken buffoons started yapping it up again, this time louder than the last. I turned around and politely asked - "Would you please be quiet" - then turned back around again to enjoy the rest of the show sans the drunken babble. As the house lights went on at the close of the show, they saw my recording gear and started making a ridiculous scene, essentially calling me a criminal for taping the gig. I called them ignorant for talking so loudly during a concert and suggested that next time they take their riveting conversation out to the hallway. They were both drunk, one far more than the other...in their mid-40's with their wives in tow...totally devoid of the ability to string together a complete and rational sentence...baiting me over and over to "take it outside"...then progressing to personal insults...to eventually calling my wife a slut and then threatening to throw me off the balcony...

...really?!?!...this is what I have to deal with after experiencing such a beautiful night of spiritual music?!?!...really?!?!...

...I don't wanna deal with the bad karma involved in wishing ill upon these two fine specimens of humanity...but I will rest soundly tonight with the thought that people will ultimately reap what they sow...sorry for the rant.
