Oh No! It's Demos

This is a collection of early mixes and alternate versions of songs recorded for DEVO's "Oh No! It's DEVO" album in 1982. These versions are all unreleased and have not been featured on "Recombo DNA" or any of DEVO's other historical anthology releases. Probably most notable are the inclusion of the original, uncensored lyrics to Speed Racer.

When I initially received these files, I found they were very muddy sounding with the high-end significantly lacking. I adjusted the EQ in Sony SoundForge and did some denoising in iZotope RX. The end result sounds very good to my ears, though there are still audible issues, mostly in the form of channels dropping-out from damage to the source cassette tape.

I have seen a story that this was supposedly leaked due to one of the Bob's trying to appease someone angry that he had been trying to chat up his woman, though this is almost certainly ridiculous. There were fan traded CD-Rs of this collection available though they were sourced from the raw tape without adjustments to the EQ. Because there is no clear history of the tape's lineage, I am unable to provide much detail beyond my own work with the lossless files I received some years ago.
