Dick Easter has been playing the guitar since the age of 8. He is a self–taught player and although he reads music his formative training came largely from attending concerts at a young age and imitating his favorite players. In his early teens, he began a “garage band” with like-minded friends. His abilities as a front man quickly developed and he began gigging the clubs of the So. Florida circuit where his family moved in 1967. That summer, "The Summer Of Love", he was exposed to bands like Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience and psychedelic music began to enter his repertoire. Over time, Dick developed and honed his style, mastering both slide and straight playing techniques. In 1978 the James Montgomery Band recruited him as the lead guitarist. He finished a tour with them and in 1979 left the band to tour with a nationwide act, Roy Buchanan. Dick credits this experience as probably the best training I could have received, Roy taught me to "feel" the notes; to "emote". In 1981 Dick did a quick stint with James Cotton and later that year formed his own band where he toured regionally. Throughout the 1980’s, Dick sat in and played with such legends as Johnny and Edgar Winter, Meatloaf, John Mellencamp and Black Oak Arkansas. In 1993 he was introduced to Sandra Wright and she offered him the spot of lead guitarist in her band, The Sandra Wright Band. He left that band in 1996 to form Dick Easter and Tin House and pursue a solo career. In 2004 he released his CD "Walking in Shadows" and has gotten great reviews in Relix- the Greatful Dead magazine and Hittin’ the Note- the Allman Brothers Band magazine and Blues Review. Dick has performed with the likes of Gov't Mule, Warren Haynes, Phil Lesh & Friends, Widespread Panic and countless others. Dick plays Fender and Gibson Guitars. Regal Dobros. Amps are by Fender and Soldano.
