Many thanks as usual to BigDee for doing the honours with the mastering of this recording. Please note that this recording goes from very quiet(instrumental) to pretty loud. The loud parts are Dick singing but he was in very chatty mood and his spoken voice is fairly audible anyway (some listeners may need subtitles!). To retain the integrity of the show I've made no attempts to really increase the relatively quiet (mainly instrumental) parts.

The Live Room, at The Caroline Social Club, Saltaire is a relatively new venue in West Yorkshire for gigs having been putting on shows since May 2012 when they opened with the Jackie Oates Band. It's just around the corner from The much larger Victoria Hall where there are regular appearances from the likes of Dervish etc. Ron and Hilary who do the promotion for The Live Room are experienced promoters and this year have attracted amongst others, The Home Service and Martyn Joseph as well as scheduling Martin Simpson for December 2013.Dick's show was well attended. They already have gigs scheduled well into 2014. A generally very respectful crowd, some slight background chatter and the usual rearrangements of bottles and ice cubes at the bar at times. Some hummer tried to do a bagpipe drone to 51st (Highland) Divisons Farewell To Sicily (or thats how it sounded to me). Nearby photographer from Tykes Magazine was using DSLR although not too noticeable. There's the customary Dick nose blow during intro to Sliabh-na-mban. Dick was, as usual, in outspoken subtle mode (!!!). If you think he is blunt at this one you should have heard his rant against Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear fame for his rather stupid statements on Public Sector Workers a year or so back (Dick's daughter is a nurse!). This was a positively cheerful and mellow Dick Gaughan. He seemed to like the venue, hopefully he will return adding Saltaire to his list of regular Yorkshire visits.
