First generation audio cassette transfer and restoration by plaz
------------------------------------------------------
Notes:
The first 3:45 was a mess until the soundman gets dialed in. The levels of the opening were too hot and the tape was over saturated with extensive clipping. You can hear the soundman fighting with the levels and mix as Diz and the boys blow the microphones off the stage. I have done what I could to make this listenable. The remainder of the recording is very good, particularly given the condition of the master reel at the time the safety cassette copies were made. The cuts are the result of the master reel falling apart and having to be spliced (denoted by //) before being fed into the R2R deck for one final playback.
The recording was received as 6 fragments (as denoted by A-F in the track listing) on 2 loaned, safety copy cassettes. The transfer of this first generation safety copy was laid out on 2 transfer discs:
Disc 1 [52:00]
Fragments A+B [34:53+7:01]
Fragment C [9:43]
Disc 2 [49:17]
Fragment D [7:53]
Fragment E [18:16]
Fragment F [19:02]
Three Cut Songs:
Fragment B was spliced onto the closing applause of A, but only the applause is cut at the end of Fragment A. However, the ends of Fragment B and C, and the starts of Fragments B and E are missing.

Audio Restoration:
- concatenated two discs to a single file
- gain and balance adjustments to opening 4 minutes
- gain normalized
- global phase correction (-0.10 ms)
- decrackled and declicked
- separated into 6 fragments (as recorded/copied)
- repaired clicks, pops, crackle, drop-outs and clipped peaks
- trimmed each fragment and tracked
