This is a great recording of Doc and Merle I got from a fellow named Okie Adams. Okie is a Southern California legend (just ask him) for all things banjo. Doc plays one of Okie's banjos in track six and talks a bit about him. Doc also comments during the intro to track three about John Delgado (Delgato?) and how he thinks he broke the recording being made by the electrical crackle he made with a plug. My guess is that this John guy was the taper that night. These are the tracks just as I got them, no editing was done by me at all. Each track starts with an introduction by Doc about his recollection of the origins of the particular song he is about to play. The man is a living history lesson on the Old-Timey and Country styles. Oh, and he's probably the best living flat-picker alive today.
