This is a really amazing and different Doc Watson recording from Mountain City, Tennessee, where back in the 20's they used to have an annual Fiddler's Convention in Mountain City that would draw musicians into town to compete for $40 in prize money.

Doc and his friends and family were at this down home event to commemorate this event of Americam music history. Fred Price on fiddle and Clint Howard on guitar accompany Doc for the second part of the set in what is a real entertaining excursion into the songs of yesteryear. Some tape hiss shouldn't take away too much from the enjoyment of this gem. - Dub Irie 08/26/2006
