Review by Paul R.:

If music be the food of life, play on. Give me excess of it. The quote from
Shakespeares Twelfth Night (Act I, scene 1) is cliched, but it does capture
the vibe of a very special Thursday evening at Shakori Hills. Special because
the Thursday festival opener has lost none of its magic after the Covid-driven
hiatus. Special to be among dear friends and family again. Special because
Donna the Buffalo delivered another fine performance with an interesting set
list. Special because despite overcast skies, humid air, and stray sprinkles,
the rain held off. Its a New Day was the perfect opener. (I had predicted
These Are Better Days but close enough.) I have landed on Having You Close
to Me as a working title for what I called Your Heart Beating Close to Mine
in my review of Donnas June 11, 2021 performance at Shakori Hills. Whatever
the songwriter eventually decides to call it, his creation is pleasing to the
ear and fun to experience. The jam in Its Just Me took a bit to crystalize
but was intricate and fascinating. Tara debuted what Purple John and I
agreed to call Sitting on Top of the World. My, my, my, were always
working for the good of us all My, my, my, were always sitting on top of the
world. At least we believe it to be a debut. Whatever the case, this
creation and Just Like You are strong additions to the Donna catalogue.
You are always going to have a good time with Blue Sky, but it is what I
call a set piece. Its re-imagining this evening definitely caught my
attention and was well beyond routine interest. O spirit of love! how quick
and fresh art thou (Shakespeare, loc. cit.)

Respectfully and hastily submitted (its a work day),

Paul R. (aka EstimatedProf)
