Show Notes:
What can I say?

The wind was blowing...like CRAZY blowing, 20 MPH gusts (at least) coming from slightly behind my right shoulder. The hair of everyone in front of me was blowing all around. Could taping conditions be any worse? I had no wind screens, as the day leading up was pretty nice.

Twenty minutes in, I figured this recording would be ruined with the Sonics source, and I was praying the Tascam with internals, held in the crook of my left arm with my right hand shielding the right side of the deck, would be an adequate capture.

Instead, when I got in the car, I ended up with 2 amazing sounding recordings, considering the conditions.

You hear a bit of wind when the band members are talking between songs, and there's a bit of phasing right near the beginning and the end when all the instruments are jamming, and a little 'mush' on the cymbals when the wind really whips up, but overall this capture, IMO, came out fantastic.

Hhe harmonies were spot on, we got a couple different songs from what they were playing this summer, the crowd for the most part was respectful (you hear the couple to my right on occasion, and the "BECAUSE ITS LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEGAL" gal behind me when one of the band members mentions marijuana), but those moments are more like "flavor" vs. show-ruining moments.

Opening with "Jesus Is Just Alright", they powered thru a 90 minutes set, and the near sell-out crowd ate it up right out of their hand.

Just listen to the sing-alongs if you need proof of this.

Anyhow, another Alaska State Fair is in the books, hopefully they book a few good artists next year as well.

His name is Dennis. He cranks my garbage out like he's running a Dorito factory. Be sure to thank him for his *time* doing this for you folks. He's slowly creeping up on his 1000th upload (probably sometime in the first half of next year).

We're gonna try and make 991 thru 1000 all pretty special ones, might have to dig deep in the vault for some true gems.

I'll just fuck off now...as there's lots of stuff coming up in the next 6 weeks.

If you like guitars, stay tuned...
