The Doors - Mega-rare restored LP "The Lizard King" - Chalk Farm Roundhouse, London 1968-09-07 AUD first pressing (read notes) mp3 sample included

One of the greatest Doors performances ever laid down on vinyl, this album has undergone extensive restoration to bring out the best in sound quality. I've been laying back on putting out torrents as the process has gotten much more complicated for me. Please support my earlier torrents dating back to 2005! Most of them I still have, if you need a lift please PM me.

Jim is in AMAZING form here and the mix is fabulous for such an old audience recording. Even if you have this album, you really haven't heard it before. Both sides run fast and every pressing of this original album is extremely noisy. All of that has been corrected, and the results have been ported to CDr and auditioned on two separate sound systems to ensure I got it right. Note: there were two dates in London, this date shows no commercial release.

A word about the noise reduction used. I am not a fan of overdoing it, and there are no artifacts present in the final results. I use so-called "dead space" sampling. There are several places where there exists no music on vinyl. There is the lead-in, the exit, and any pauses in performance within the grooves themselves. I choose a spot of greater than one second between tracks and sample that. It's different on each side. This ensures the lowest volume of surface noise from which to work with.

A note about the hard time I had getting the speed right. All releases of the complete Light My Fire from the initial release up until the 40th anniversary edition were mastered at the wrong speed, including those on YouTube. I used The End to get the speed right. The band also isn't always in perfect tune. Forget all about that and listen to the awesome spectacle of this show!

From one of the Doors fanatics on Facebook: The last three tracks MAY be from the early show and the first three MAY be from the late show. Also, the US release of Weird Triangle is a needle-drop of this LP.

Lineage: First pressing -> Speed correction on turntable -> Ableton Lite (w11) ->Sound Forge 11.0 (w10) ->Manual painting of loudest pops ->Normalization ->Click and crackle removal -> "Dead space" sampling and noise reduction ->FLAC via TLH, level 6, sectors aligned and verified.

Enjoy!
