DOUG SAHM & THE LAST REAL TEXAS BLUES BAND
PARADISO, AMSTERDAM
THE NETHERLANDS
1 AUGUST 1997

2 CD
2h 26m 24s (146m 24s)

Notes on lineage -

1 - The info I got with this suggests it may be a Soundboard recording - however, judging from the remarks below of Michiel, another taper at this show (who got asked to stop recording halfway through (!). it seems to me that this is actually a very good audience recording made by his friend "Jan" -

Michiel describes his copy as - "CSB > D8, FOB, taped by Jan. This might be the best sounding binaural-CSB tape I currently have (145 min)"

2 - The person (unknown) who torrented what I have here in 2007, (now deleted) included these notes -
"1st Generation Tape > EQ > CDR > Plextor Tool Pro E > wav > flac"
This one was uploaded here (Dime) sometime last year.
There seems to be some more interest in it now, so here it is again.
I don't have much of the information from the last posting.
It sounds like a soundboard, but let us know if it is something else.
I think it is excellent sound. This is my first upload, so helpful suggestions are appreciated."

If some EQ adjustment was done, it would appear to have been done well, but I cannot say by who !!!. Perhaps either of the 2 previous Dime torrenters, or Michiel, or someone else will notice this torrent and be able to contribute some other info !!!!!

In addition, all the references I've seen on trade-lists etc for this show only mention an audience recording, NOT a soundboard, (145 or 146 min.), and also going by the sound I feel this must indeed be "Jan's tape" !

CSB > D8, FOB, taped by Jan. This might be the best sounding binaural-CSB tape I currently have (145 min)

Hello DAT-heads, Last night I went to see Doug Sahm and friends at Paradiso, a 1000 people Amsterdam (Netherlands) venue. It was a great show and if you have a change to see them on their European or US tour check them out. Doug Sahm, 5 of his friends and his son Sean were having a great time on stage. The show rocked. It was pretty special, as Doug commemorated Jerry Garcia's birthday.
A great show and I was spinning a wonderful CSB > D7 tape, until after a scheduled tape-
switch I got busted. The tape-switch was perfect, between one song and another,
not missing a bit of music. Good things never last, and the female creature that had
stared at me during the flip turned me in.
Too bad, it would have been a great tape, now I'll have to do with the CSB > D8 tape
my friend Jan made ;-) In the end it turned out pretty cool, being temporarily unemployed
I figured two tapes would be worth trying to get back, considering Doug Sahm isn't anti taping.
So after the show I met Doug's son Sean and we had an enlightening talk.
It turns out both Sean and his father Doug don't have problems with people taping,
but in this case he had to check out with the entire band what their opinion on live-taping
their performances would be. The band-manager ("I'm not the manager I just get to hang
out with these guys") was very friendly, and I think it ought to be possible to get a permission to tape.
