AUD recording

TheCommish notes:
I love all the old Dr. Hook classics from the 1970s and even some from the early 1980s. That being said, I knew going in that this incarnation of Dr. Hook (the one using the "featuring Ray Saywer" moniker) does not include the lead singer of most their hits: Dennis Locorriere.

That's OK, I figured, because it will still be fun to listen to these songs live (since I'd never seen Dr. Hook in concert) even if it's just Raw Sawyer (77 years old) and a bunch of younger guys.

Well...I was wrong. The musical component of this show was decent but Ray's vocals were often weak and off-key. The songs most definitely missed "The Voice of Dr. Hook", Dennis Locorriere. After hearing the performance, my buddy Sammy said they have no right charging people in excess of $30 for the show; Ray and band should be playing for free at state fairs and such at this point in his career. I think Sammy nailed it.

Twice during the show Ray left the stage as the rest of the band (including Ray's son, Cayce, on drums) played a cover song. I actually enjoyed 634-5789 (Soulsville, U.S.A.) more than many of the Dr. Hook tunes that Ray attempted to sing.

Overall, the recording's not bad but the performance was below average. Someone in his band should have the courage to tell ol' Ray to hang it up at this point. Nonetheless, I'm sharing the recording for anyone interested.

If you like this torrent, won't you please take a moment to post a comment on the board? It only takes a moment, and believe me, it takes A LOT longer to prepare/upload a show for others to enjoy than it does to download and run.
