Dr. John in one of the first performances with his new band after parting ways with Lower 911. Not a very loud performance given the size of the room and was a bit bass heavy (See notes below). Dry crowd as it was on a college campus so very attentive crowd that was there for the music and not to party. Made for some fine performances, check out the Dr. work his voodoo in "Whitchy Red Gris Gris" and listen to that last breath in the song, so quiet you can hear a pin drop, then eruption into applause, priceless. The band has some very playful solo time as well in "Mardi Gras Day" taking advantage of the "quiet" in the room as well as some cool interplay between Reggie and Dwight in "Whitchy Red Gris Gris".
There is obviously some upfront cheering and off time clapping :) and the applause does overdrive at the very end. This recording has been compressed with a multi-band compressor to help curb some of the cheer volume difference and to help control the mid bass as an EQ scoop didn't work quite right and a roll-off just emphasized the muddiness. Because of this the "live" dynamics did suffer a bit and an uncompressed version may be put together in the future if there is interest.
Enjoy!
