This concert occurred 17 years ago last week. It was the 1st
time I'd ever seen DZ and it made me a believer. In case you're
wondering, On The Waterfront is a city festival in Rockford, IL
which is held every Labor Day weekend. Many bands perform on many
different stages & it's a good chance to view many diverse musical
genres for a low, low price. Herewith some random thoughts about
that concert 17 years ago...

There was a decent crowd and it was an evening show. Audience gab
near me was not a serious problem and I was pretty close to the
stage. You'll hear (not very often at all) some crackling noises
in the recording ; these came from the PA system & NOT my recording
device. The band played a little over 80 minutes and I thought that
they were hilarious, especially Tortelvis's stage banter between
and during the songs. Even though these guys are hysterical, they
are EXCELLENT musicians. Listen to Tortelvis hit the high notes ;
he's always on key. Buttboy is a phenomenal guitarist and shreds
the fretboard. I swapped out a tape right before the final track.
A little of it is missing because DZ left the stage and I honestly
thought that the show was over and started walking away from the
stage area. Surprise, surprise ! They came back on and I had to hit
record and walk back to the stage area quickly to get the last tune
in good fidelity. All in all, a fantastic show and a night to remember.
I've never seen these guys play in the South (I don't think that
people down here GET them, IYKWIMean) and IIRC, the last time that
I saw them live was in 1997 in Rockford, IL. I hope that they make
it down here sooner or later... Wellllllll, that's about all that I
have to discuss so let's get this little gem on the golden road to
spiritual enlightenment and...

Finally, no buy, no sell, no mp3. Please seed this as long as you can.
If you're a Dread Zeppelin fan, you NEED this tape. A very high-energy
show in which everybody shines. I will post samples shortly for those
of you still undecided, but you really don't need any ; this show sounds
fantastic. Well, thanks for reading this and Mr. Natural would like to
add these few comments: have fun, give Charlie Haj some much-needed
respect and by all means, enjoy the concert!!!

jojogunne 9/9/2012 Happy Belated Labor Day !
