Notes:
This is the 4th time I've been fortunate enough to experience Frank Zappa's music live... the first was way back in 1988, when I saw Frank perform in Hartford, CT... that was QUITE an experience! Zappa crowds are -very- interesting people and the parts of that night that I remember, I'll never forget! :-) A decade or so later, I saw Dweezil on the Zappa-to-Zappa tour, which was really amazing and emotional, considering Frank died so young. Last year I had the great pleasure to see a bunch of local young musicians perform Frank's music with Ike Willis doing vocals... it was part of the Paul Green Rock Academy and it really felt good to see young people performing Frank's music with such intensity and pride... that's a fun show, if you ever get the chance to see them play! I believe that future generations will look upon Frank Zappa's music with the same reverence that we have today for Mozart or Beethoven!

And then there's THIS show.... the band was really tight and just ripped through a TON of music in the almost 3 hours that they played! I'm pleased to say that this is the best audio recording of a concert I've ever done, so I'm glad my efforts were adequate to properly capture this phenomenal live performance! I was seated dead-center-stage, about 15 rows back, and the cool thing at the Hart Theatre is that the seating angle is very sharp, so there's really nobody in front of you, unless they stand up, so the recording is pretty clean, with very little chatter from people around us.

I did have a "cheap" 4K video camera capturing the entire show with an absolute perfect view of the stage, but I'm really unhappy with how noisy the video image is and doubt if I'll release it... buyer beware, the Akaso Brave-4 video camera really sucks at capturing a concert stage. Maybe if I had adjusted the exposure or something, it would've turned out better, but at least my Tascam DR-05 did a decent job of capturing the audio.

One other item to note from this show, the band plays an incredible cover of AC-DC's "Back in Black" at one point and Dweezil follows it up with an interesting story about Frank and the band. I really enjoyed the between song banter and stories that went along with some of the songs. Dweezil does not move much on stage but his guitar work is absolutely stellar and he's doing a great job of keeing Frank's music alive.

I was thrilled to hear that the show was completely sold out and people were trying to buy tickets outside the building. So cool to see people still so excited by Frank's music! For those who couldn't be there, please enjoy this recording...
