Elvis Costello and the Los Angeles Philharmonic
Hollywood Bowl
Los Angeles, CA
September 6, 2014

Los Angeles Philharmonic - conducted by Scott Dunn
Steve Nieve - piano, melodica
Dennis Crouch - double bass
Karriem Riggins - drums

For those that prefer the the sophisticated crooner Elvis over the genius singer/songwriter, rock band leader Elvis - this is for you. (Unfortunately, I'm not one of those people.) 72 minutes. 11 Songs. 40,000 people showed up for this, folks.

Anyway, recording sounds excellent, and I guess the show was really good while it lasted. Wise Up Ghost and Bedlam are great here and EC provides some interesting insight into some songs. But, IMO the setlist was sort of predictable and could have used some more biting Elvis and less nice Elvis. In the end I'm glad I went. I was a very unique night.

At the end of Almost Blue, Elvis take over piano from Steve and Steve finishes the song on the melodica. Alison is Elvis and Steve only.

Special thanks to the fellow Dimer who hooked me up with the ticket of the show.
