I'm upping this concert for two reasons : to give all the ELP
fans on Dime a chance to pick up this rare, old and nearly complete
concert (even though the SQ leaves a lot to be desired) and to
ask, beseech and challenge one of the many remasterers here on
Dime to work their magic on this show and transform it into a
fine-quality concert that Mom and Dad can be proud to own. I got
this in trade from a new friend here on Dime who shall remain
nameless and for the time period, it's really not that bad. Here
are the major flaws : the bass and drums are overpowering, there
is a small amount of hiss throughout the recording and there are
sections (mercifully short) where it sounds like some idiot is
crushing an empty popcorn bag or crinkling a large cellophane
wrapper very close to the mic. The show sounds a bit muffled but
there doesn't seem to be a speed problem. Now let there be no
mistake (to borrow a phrase from our foreign-born President Barry O);
I could hook up my 10 band per channel graphic equalizer, cut the
bass to near -12, boost the midrange a little and hopefully get
a decent-sounding recording. But I live by the dictum of Dirty
Harry - A man's gotta know his limitations. I know mine and I'd
rather have any one of a number of remastering wizards (we all
know who they are) tackle this show and turn it into something
that everyone can admire. So I'm BEGGING one of you guys to pick
up the gauntlet, work your magic and give us something that will
sound so good that kindly old retarded Uncle Jojo will drool with
delight. Awright ?...Sawright !!! That's about all I have, so let's
get this ball rolling...

Finally, please don't buy, sell or convert this show to mp3 or
any other lossy format. Please seed this as long as you can.
Please trade this freely as it is probably uncirculated. This
show should be a welcome addition to most ELP fans' collections,
but consider yourselves warned about the sound quality. IT'S
NOT A NICE-SOUNDING RECORDING, regardless of the grading that I
used. I graded it as very good because I've heard many shows upped
here that sound worse than this that were graded as very good. I
think that most of you will like this show and I will post a sample
to help some of you decide whether or not to download this. If you
attended this show, please share your memories. You may notice that
this show took place ONE DAY before my Holy Grail show so I'm honing
in slowly but surely. One last thing : if you have Emerson, Lake and
Palmer, Civic Arena, Pittsburgh, PA, August 12, 1972, PLEASE PM
me. That was my first professional concert and also the first time
that I ever saw ELP. It's a Holy Grail show for me and a lot of
other people. So, as Mr. Natural keeps on and on and on saying,
have fun, don't freak out and enjoy the concert !
