Original "Tale Of The Tape":
Preserved on Maxell metal bias cassettes, the story has it that this recording was given to Sir Martin
Cornick by the recording engineer that night of September 12, 1986. This recording is a "pure" soundboard
recording in which the audience is left in and not compressed like other soundboards. I used Cool Edit
Pro for expanding & normalizing the sound,, No EQ was done to this recording. I've had some people that
have worked in the recording industry listen to this recording and they all say it's a recording from the
monitor board, if not, this is got to be one of the best audience recordings I have ever heard. A few
months back, I released an ELPowell show from Costa Mesa, Ca. October 31, 1986 called; "Dead Brain-Cell
Recovery" in which I thought was a pretty damn good audience recording but, just let me say just this,,,
"Dead Brain-Cell Recovery" ain't got shit on this recording !! This baby ROCKS !!!
Enjoy !

Additional Notes:
I think this source was first shared on dime by John (Atyim4) on October 25, 2007. The original
circulation could predate dime though. Supposedly a soundboard, but I think it sounds like a great
audience recording - John writes about the great quality above.

There are several versions of this which I checked out and they seemed basically identical to each other
but I think come from different CD rips. I'm not entirely confident this is the "original", but there
are a few clues that it is:
1) The files were originally shn.
2) I compared it to the first version shared on dime by carnso (May 15, 2005). The carnso version is
clearly a different CD rip variation except I found a fraction of a second of audio at the end of Disc 1
that it is missing compared to this source.

There are also more recently shared versions of this recording from different tape sources of whotrader
and from a Japanese ELP collector. The whotrader version seems about the same quality as this. I think
whotrader's and this version are a bit higher quality than the Japanese trader version. The Japanese
trader version is running somewhat slow. This version is closer to the correct speed, but just slightly
fast. As far as I can tell, the main advantage of the Japanese source and/or whotrader's is that they
have more of Creole Dance, which is cut in this version.

Given the confusion about this being soundboard sourced, whether this is actually from a 1st gen source
is not clear.

All that I've done here is convert the original SHN's to FLAC using TLH (September 2022).
