>> SUPERB SOUND - FRESH OUT OF OUR ARCHIVE - UNCIRCULATED AND UNTRADED SO FAR << with samples

Preliminary remark 1:

Thanks for all your nice comments and PM's concerning my small
Eric Andersen reseed series here on DIME last week...

As promised, this NEW one here is fresh transferred & uncirculated so far.

Preliminary remark 2:

As far as I know NONE of this recording was ever used commercially.

This recording here comes directly from the "Men With Microphones" archive.
"MWM" started in the 70ies in South Germany with analog recording equipment,
and at least two of them are still recording sometimes (since the 90ies on DAT,
and, lazy as we are, since lately with small, handheld WAV-recorders on SD-cards).
The "MWM" startet as a project of friends sharing their hobbies together. But by
reason of jobs, partners and other interests the circle of all involved shrinked.

Eric Andersen

Born in Pittsburgh, Andersen belonged in the early sixties together with Phil Ochs
and Bob Dylan to the Greenwich Village folkscene in New York. His best-known songs from
that time are "Violets of Dawn", "Come to My Bedside" and "Thirsty Boots" (the latter
was recorded by Judy Collins and several others).

In 1966, he made his debut at the Newport Folk Festival and that same year he starred
in the Andy Warhol movie Space.

In 1970 he took part in the Festival Express tour across Canada with the Grateful Dead,
Janis Joplin, The Band and others.

In 1972 he issued his most successful (and sold) album Blue River. The tapes of his
follow-up album Stages got lost, but were found more than a decade later and issued
in 1991 as Stages: The Lost Album.

In 1975 he performed at the opening show of the Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Revue, at
Gerde's Folk City in New York, and again in Niagara Falls. After several albums
(country/rock/folk), he issued Ghosts Upon the Road a highly recognized album in 1988.

In the early 1990s he formed the trio Danko/Fjeld/Andersen together with Rick Danko
(The Band) and Jonas Fjeld and three albums were released. It lasted nine years before the
next solo album Memory Of The Future (1998) was issued.

In his 40-year career he has issued more than 20 albums to which many artists have
contributed e.g. Joan Baez, Dan Fogelberg, Al Kooper, Joni Mitchell, Leon Russell,
Richard Thompson, Rick Danko, Garth Hudson, Eric Bazilian, Tony Garnier, Howie Epstein
and many others.
His songs have been recorded by artists all over the world, including The Blues Project,
Johnny Cash, Judy Collins, John Denver, Fairport Convention, Grateful Dead, Peter, Paul & Mary,
Ricky Nelson, Ratdog (Bob Weir), Linda Ronstadt and Pete Seeger.

Common Knowledge so far, i hope.

About this concert:

After being an eye-witness of Erics show in Bolzano 1995 Wolfi got this idea of
booking the first concert tour in Germany ever. Eric had no record-company here,
no agent, and all of the concert-companies Wolfi asked showed NO INTEREST.

It took us nearly two years to organize this tour for two weeks in September 1997.
Two really great weeks, driving around with Eric, sightseeing, fantastic food
and wonderful concerts (and some taping...). It ended in Berlin, and his norwegian
wife (back then, but that's a different story...) Unni, "the femme fatale of
contemporary Norwegian art" came to this show just to surprise her husband...

In May 1998 Eric came over from Norway to Germany for two weeks, stayed at Wolfi's
place and together they planned the next steps - mainly to convince a record company
to release his "Memory Of The Future"-album. For one week we joined them, had a great
time - talking, cooking, eating & drinking together - and enjoyed the three concerts
Eric played in Norderstedt, his only shows in Germany that year.

This here is gig number one...(and there's more to come...)

FOR THE FIRST TIME OUT OF OUR ARCHIVE,
COMPLETELY UNTRADED, SLIGHTLY MASTERED,
AND OTHERWISE UNALTERED - PLEASE ENJOY!

My dear buddy Ken TheCommish usually writes (and hey, he's damn right):
If you decide to download this show, won't you please consider posting a comment
on the show's board? It only takes a moment, and believe me, it takes A LOT longer
to prepare/upload a show for others to enjoy than it does to download and run...

You know, our friend Dave T says: "There's always more to come..."
And i'll promise you to keep MY tapes coming...
