Eric Andersen and Chris Burroughs - April 28, 1999 - Music Star, Norderstedt, Germany
**UNCIRCULATED SOUNDBOARD-DAT master, MWM 0021** >>A MUST HAVE! UNIQUE SETLIST<<

First of all, it's a lot to read here - sorry ;-)

This last weekend was incredible !
When i uploaded the Eric Andersen in Bolzano 1995 (Torrent #166070) last Friday,
i was really not prepared (even not in my wildest dreams...) for the flood of
EA-torrents here on DIME...what a nice surprise!

Thanks to Eric (eric78) for the three concerts in Paris (2005: Torrent #166374,
2006: #166245 and 2007: #166126) - SIMPLY INCREDIBLE!
Thanks also to president Hervé (my dear old friend...starting with Elliott Murphy
ten years ago...) and all the nice people involved in "Acoustic In Paris":
http://www.acousticinparis.com/
http://www.mysongwriters.com/

And thanks to Dave (davmar77) for opening his archive for us (again and again!).
Torrent #166294 CENTRAL PARK 1972 & #166390 DANKO, FJELD, ANDERSEN - the trio.
OUTSTANDING STUFF, Dave ! And yes,we hope there's always more to come... ;-)

And last but not least thanks to Jos (songhunter) for opening the Eric Andersen-
"-Box of Pleasure" with these fantastic "In The Woods"-recordings
(Torrent #148739 - 06/2003, #151450 - 08/2003 and #164069 - 02/2005)...
a box you cannot close when once opened...
let them Eric-tapes coming...
there are lotta more tapes out there...i KNOW IT !

This torrent here, unreleased and never traded before, is FOR YOU...ENJOY !

This concert here was (and still is) very special for us!

And hey, oldlper, here is a nice version of "Is It Really Love At All" !

Another recording directly from the "Men With Microphones" archive.
"MWM" started in the 70ies in South Germany with analog recording equipment,
and at least two of them are still recording sometimes (since the 90ies on DAT).

Now the long intro story:

After being an eye-witness of Erics show in Bolzano 1995 Wolfi got this idea of
booking the first concert tour in Germany ever. Eric had no record-company here,
no agent, and all of the concert-companies Wolfi asked showed NO INTEREST.

It took us nearly two years to organize this tour for two weeks in September 1997.
Two really great weeks, driving around with Eric, sightseeing, fantastic food
and wonderful concerts (and some taping...). It ended in Berlin, and his norwegian
wife Unni came to this show just to surprise her husband...
(And if you ask why it took that long - we are no pro's, just crazy fans
(and tapers...), some of us (part time-) concert promoters, and we all had our
"normal" lifes, families and work. And in 1996 there was this long, mindblowing
Neil Young and Crazy Horse-tour...'nuff said !).

In May 1998 Eric came just for three concerts to Norderstedt, and we made plans
for 1999, his second tour in Germany. Wolfi and Eric contacted almost all record
companies here, and finally convinced Normal in Bonn to release "Memory Of The Future".

April 1999 was an incredible month. Bruce Springsteen came to Germany, the reunion-tour
with the E-Street Band, exact 18 years later i've seen them the last time in their full
glory (don't misunderstand me, i've seen them later too, but without Miami Steve...and
with this Megaseller "Born In The USA" it WAS NEVER THE SAME...). And we had guests at our
home, Elliott Murphy and Olivier Durand stayed here for a few days during their Duo-tour.

The same day Bruce rocked Munich Olympiahalle, Elliott and Olivier played "Red River"
in Heilbronn. And both almost cried when we showed up for the concert, knowing that
my wife and myself had tickets for Bruce...so Elliott had this crazy idea to take
us and our car for a short trip to Cologne to see the show and visit Bruce and the boys...

Chris Burroughs came over from Tucson, AZ to hang out with us, and to play a few
concerts as "support" for Eric Andersen. Radio Bremen was very interested in both
artists and organized a double-headliner concert at "Moments" in Bremen, plus two
radio-interviews in the studio there.

All three, Chris, Elliott and Olivier became friends, we made sightseeing trips and
witnessed the "old burning lady"-event in a cafe one afternoon. And at night they
jammed together...and we all MISSED Bruce in Cologne...

So we visited the Regensburg-concert (without meeting Bruce...), waved goodbye to
Elliott and Olivier, and together with Chris and his 12-string we drove the next day
to Wolfi, just to get rid (lol) of Mr. Burroughs, and then to Kiel to see Steve Wynn
there. The next day Chris played a solo-show as rehearsal for the radio-concert.

Meanwhile Eric was touring mid-Germany, accompanied by the german wife of the late great
Townes Van Zandt. We all met each other at the hotel in Bremen, after Chris had his
Interview-hour at Radio Bremen. Together we walked to this record-store "EAR Schallplatten",
and both Eric and Chris played short instore-gigs and signed CDs, LPs and so on.

The concert at "Moments" was simply stunning, almost sold out, an enthusiastic crowd
of fans from all over Germany, a few came from the Netherlands and Scandinavia. Radio
Bremen recorded both shows with their mobile studio truck. Sadly they never broadcasted
both shows complete, just excerpts...and i was NOT allowed to fix my Tascam DA 20II
to the board...shit, but they organized everything, paid the club and the engineers...

Two days later, Chris and Eric had exchanged their life stories, most beloved authors
and musical taste and interests (for example Fred Neil, both !!), became friends and
rehearsed together behind closed doors for this show here.

It took place at Wolfi's "Musicstar" in Norderstedt and was totally sold out...
Chris opened the evening (with Eric as roadie !), played for about 40 minutes and
continued the evening with his new job as "Eric's guitar-wizard".
Then our beloved hero entered the stage with quite a short, but funny and relaxed set,
70 minutes packed with some of his best songs and interesting stories...

But no-one and nothing had prepared us for the following encore!

Chris came out with his 12-string Guild for the last two songs...
AND WHAT AN INCREDIBLE CHOICE BOTH MADE DURING THE REHEARSAL !!

There was no second encore possible...

necessary...

we all stood there...

standing ovations...

tears in our eyes...

and not just the ladies cryin....

WHAT A NIGHT !
