Saturday was spent sight seeing and bar hopping in New York. Took my first visit to the World
Trade Center memorial. Very touching and moving. Very tatefully done. The area looks like
a wound that has almost healed over after all these years. My friend then wanted to see the
Statue of Liberty so we went down to Battery Park for a view. Fitting after seeing the 9/11
memorial. The rest of the day was spent barhopping, eating and drinking in New York. Lots of fun
but it was not a crazy late night after the night before. Can't keeptht pace up these days.
We woke up Sunday/Show Day and went to my friend's new restaurant for brunch. The food was
exceptional. Its a great new spot called Almond in Tribeca right next to Robert DiNero's Tribecca
Grill. I would strongly reommend the place if you are in NY. I was good and skipped the Bloody Mary's
since I knew I had a show a record. Everyone else made up for me though.
I got to Madison Square Grarden early and met Scooter123. We repeated what we did the first night
to perfection. When I went back later security was down right oppressive. I had a pack of AA
batteries in my pack and they gave me the once over asking why I had batteries. I played dumb and
said I didn't know. I wasn't aware I even had them since they were burried on the bottom. What I
wanted to say was Duh, I am taping the show, what else do you think I'm doing with them. Glad I
only thought that. Scooter123 and I both went in to the usual spot to rig up. As I walk out a
security guy is heading in our diretion obviously looking for something. Scooter came out right
behind me, problem narrowly averted. My friend Jay meets us inside. He took the 2nd row ticket from
me but later discovered row B was the first row in his section. He was thrilled and got some great pics.
I was able to get my friend down to the row in front of me so she also got the seat upgrade.
The econd night was very similr to the firt except Cocaine was dropped and Let it Rain was the closer.
Same guests, probably a slightly better performance but the first night felt more spontaneous. The
highlights for me were the I Shot The Sherifff and Let it Rain again. Also the acoustic Layla was
beautiful. Two days of gret music, great recording experiences and hanging out with great friends.
Doesn't get much better than that.
