Source: WWOZ-FM > RadioShark v2.0.2 > Macintosh MacMini (2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > aiff > Quicktime 7.6.3 (convert aiff to wav) > wav > flac v1.2.1 (linux command line; level 8 compression) > flac file
Transfer: flac file (transferred by ftp from remote pc) > MacBook Pro (2.5 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (convert to aiff) > aiff > Bias Peak Pro 6.2.0.21692 (trimmed, normalized by 6.0 db, split into songs) > X Audio Compression Toolkit 2.23 (sector boundaries repaired; level 8 compression) > flac
Note: There are some dropouts as well as glitches in the recording that were inherent in the FM broadcast AND the online mp3 stream. The glitches seem to be related to the station's use of a computer for recording or processing that seems to get overwhelmed or overloaded, possibly from an overloaded processor, a too-slow hard-drive or a fragmented drive. The glitches sound sort of like a single note repeating itself over the space of a fraction of a second. The issues have plagued WWOZ's live broadcasts for years.
Where possible the dropouts and glitches were repaired or removed:
* A 1.1-second gap was removed at 1:59 into Track 1. A quarter-second glitch about a second later was also removed.
* A 1-second gap at 4:05 into Track 4 was closed up. A tenth-of-a-second glitch about 1-1/2 second later was removed. Another third-of-a-second glitch a split second later was also removed.
* A 1.2-second dropout at 1:12 into track 6 was removed.
* A 1 second dropout at 5:20 into Track 6 was removed. About two seconds later, a 1.9-second splice from a similar passage in the song was used to repair a glitch.
* A 0.7-second dropout at 4:33 into Track 9 was removed.
* A 1.1-second dropout about 6 seconds later (about 4:39 into Track 9) was removed.
* About 1 second later (at 4:40 into Track 9), a 0.7-second dropout was removed; and finally a tenth-of-a-second glitch yet 1 more second later was removed.
