Thanx Eric for allowing me to record !

* This was written right after the show *

Well it's almost 5 years now since i saw Eric Steckel for the
very first time, and as blown away as i was back then i am still
amazed how much Eric has grown musically and personally. Each time
i have seen Eric perform he alway's seems to add a little something
to the mix as they say, but this time around Eric has drastically
changed his style and sound, ever evolving as a musician he has
formed a new trio with guy's his own age and brought his guitar
playin to a whole new level.

While Eric is known for starting out playing the blues, this band
has taken a different direction mixing really hard slide flavored
blues with some rock & metal and even some jazz as well. One can
see the power this band has as a trio, more energy than his previous
incarnations and certainly full of promise.

All throughout you can make comparisons to the late Stevie Ray Vaughan,
or Rory Gallagher as well as the obvious nod to Johnny Winter on slide,
you'll also hear some Stanley Jordan and Cornell Dupree and even take
a dive into some psychedelic blues in the flavor of Frank Marino but
one things for sure about Eric Steckel, he can play and seems to get
better by the show as he ascends into greatness.

About the show...

The show starts off with Eric doing a couple of new songs off his new cd
"Milestone", "Sooner Or Later" & "Shaolin Fade" are pretty much rock songs
but are really great songs with a highly infectious boogie on guitar.
Next is original "Don't Look Behind" which has Eric wailing away on guitar
as he's playing with a vengeance now followed by Jimi Hendrix "Little Wing"
which Eric seems to do a little different evertime he play's it never the
less he shines here on this one.

Another great song off the new cd is "2 Little 2 Late", which to me seems to
be more personal here offering some really jazzy guitar work with some of
the most explosive, passionate guitar work laden with emotion at this show.

What is noticeably differant about this show is that Eric played a lot of
slide guitar here and he has gotten really good at it too bringing that ole
Johnny Winter feel with him when he goes out on a limb trying to emulate one
of his heroes.

One of the highlights of this show was a song Eric wrote the day before the
show in the hotel room called "Meter To Miles", which with little rehearsal
time involved has a lot of potential as Eric really kicked ass on guitar on
this one, some of the funkiest riffs iv'e heard Eric throw down yet.

Hard to believe Eric could top that but following up on that was an original
off of "Milestone" called " Show The World", where seemingly Eric just
changes gears into the song and goes into a Frank Marino inspired journey on
guitar here that just blew me away, unbelievable stuff here people.

Well after that one Eric came back for a second encore featuring some loose
instrumental jammin here, closing the show with original "Just Walk Away" &
Eric decides to play slide on this one as this is one long take on the song,
finally finishing up with some nice improv on guitar.

Amazing performance & nice audience recording !

A must for guitar lovers!
