First time to visit this legendary venue in the north-eastern part of the Netherlands, 180 km
from my home (one way). I realize people from countries larger than mine will laugh at this
distance, but for me it was a long trip.

Usually I see Eric at a nearby venue, but the weekend he played near me I was in London for
a Dave Alvin show. Since this was my last opportunity to see Eric this year I decided to
travel to Cafe de Amer. That it's one of Eric's favourite venues added to the decision.

When I walked in and Eric saw me he rose from his chair, gave me a few kisses and said he was
surprised to see me there. He had expected me in Amsterdam at the houseconcert in Ernst's place.
We talked for a while, but there are always other people who want to talk to Eric, so I went to see Ernst,
who was driving Eric all over the country.
Eric dedicated Jack-knife Gypsy to Ernst.

I loved the venue. Originally it was a farmhouse, later it became the village pub. It still
has the pub, but in the part where once animals were housed a listening room has been made.
Nationally and internationally the listening room has become famous and many singer-wongwriters
like to play there.

For Eric Taylor it was his 16th time. From his performance I could tell it's a favourite venue,
I have seen Eric many times and this show was one of the better ones.
