the FeLiCe brotherS

Hailing from the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York, The Felice Brothers
blend folk, Americana, and revivalist roots rock into a uniquely earthy sound.
Brothers Ian and James Felice grew up in the Hudson River Valley, several miles
away from the musical hamlet of Woodstock. The Felice Brothers are of interest
to anyone admiring the work of Townes Van Zandt, The Avett Brothers, or 60s
folk-rockers like Bob Dylan and The Band.

Hardly Strictly Bluegrass-Day 1

As always I was looking forward to this festival. I was in touch with a number of
tapers and friends as we coordinated schedules. On Thursday night I was in bed
early with my alarm set for 4:20AM. I awoke before 4 and realized it was time to
get my arse moving and out of bed. I packed car and parked car at 5AM. I got to
the Banjo Stage and put down my blanket in the perfect spot. Within minutes the
remaining spots were filled. I then ran over to Rooster Stage and put down another
blanket. After heading back to Banjo Stage I ran into one guy who remembered me
as a taper from last year. Another old taper friend arrived and we all just passed
the time until the music began. At about 11 I went back to Rooster Stage for the
first three acts. I wanted to catch the Felice Brothers and figured to record the
first two bands. All three recordings went very easily although I missed the first
15 seconds of the Felice Brothers due to not taping down a switch. After the last
note of Felice Brothers I jammed back to Banjo Stage for Seldom Scene. Their set
started before Felice Brothers finished so my source is incomplete. I will post another
source that is complete as well. After Seldom Scene Peter Rowan put on a fun set
followed by Bonnie Raitt. Bonnie's set was amazing. The sound of all recordings are
very nice. All in all a pretty perfect day.
