Lineage: Stealth recorded and minimally produced by mrsaureus, standing center floor twenty-five feet back from the stage. Core-Sound High End Binaurals (DPA-4060 capsules) to Sony PCM-M10 (48 kHZ, 24 bit), WavePad Sound Editor to provide modest global amplification, cut into songs and Switch Sound File Converted to convert to 16 bit/ 44.1 kHz FLACs. If people want it, I can share a 24/48 version. This is an audience recording that aims to document the experience of being in the crowd at the show, and features occasionally loud but appropriate crowd noise. This is the first time this recording is being shared.

When I posted the Of Montreal set (http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=431880) I mentioned that Id post the openers if people were interested, and Ive actually gotten quite a few requests for Foxygen. Propelled by a good notice on Pitchfork, they seem to be gaining momentum in the indie rock press and attracting quite a lot of attention. Their mash up of the classic rock smorgasbord with the avant garde was nicely displayed at Webster Hall, but let me warn you up front that their sound was poorly mixed (you can hear Sam complaining about that throughout the set) and the audience was restless, especially loud and a little hostile. I dont have to explain it to the DIME crowd, how this is a document of real music played by real people for real people on a particular night, and that there are lessons to be learned that youd never get just by listening to the album.

If your interest in mainly in Foxygen, I encourage you to give FHR a listen as well. Brothers from Milwaukee smashing up disco with the avant garde, they have been criticized for calling themselves French Horn Rebellion when their recorded stuff doesnt show much evidence of the french horn. Well, in the live show you can hear the horn plenty. The even had as a guest Rachel Attila the Horn Drehmann, from the chick horn band Genghis Barbies (look them up), so the horn bona fides were assured. Im not sure youd really miss the horn if it wasnt there, but it figures into the bands backstory and creation myth, which you can read about on line. Horn or no horn, this is fun dance music that mixes ingredients in unexpected ways and makes you think and groove at the same time.

On the whole, you couldnt have picked two better openers for Of Montreals classic psychedelic disco spectacle. Great show overall.

As always, Id appreciate any help with the song titles.
