About this edit:
In late June 2021 Willer approached me with the question if I would like to edit a previously unpublished Zappa audience recording from Copenhagen 1980 made by G.
The peculiarity of this recording is that it was made by G. and his buddy Jan with exactly the same recording equipment. They wanted to ensure from the beginning that they would later be able to make a continuous show out of these recordings without tape-flip breaks. The two tapers also sat relatively close to each other to get as equal a recording sound as possible, and coordinated with the tape flips by hand signals. And all this long before it was possible to edit shows digitally. What a progressive thought for an Audience recording from 1980.
I thought, what more could you ask for? Well, it was intended to be a very easy show to edit, but in the course of editing it turned out to be a bit more complicated.
It became more and more obvious that the transfers of the tapes declared with Source #2 are not exclusively a separate Source #2 recording. Obviously already in pre-digital times the attempt was made to edit a version from two recording sources. Well, all this happened 40 years ago and no one involved can say for sure what exactly is on the tapes. A meticulous detective work followed in which flambay and I analyzed the recordings.
The goal of this presentation was then to use the best sounding version of each section of the two "Sources" from all the material that was available and to combine it into a complete and seamless show.

Technical corrections:
Only the technically necessary corrections were made (please see lineage below).
As in the old Zappateers tradition, no re-EQ, compression or anything like that was added to the recording.
Audio restoration:
Apart from fixing somr minor dropouts, clicks, crackling and inaccurate analog editing, no audio restoration was necessary.
Mono or Stereo?
This is a real stereo recording!
To preserve the sound of the original recording as well as possible:
NO fade-in or -out, NO track normalisation, NO soundfilter!
All work on the recording was done in 24/96.
In short: There is no music left out!
