This was John Anthony's Master's Recital.
Congratulations, John, on a job well done!

Bio:
John Anthony is a second year Masters student pursuing an MM in Jazz Studies
at Youngstown State University and is presently serving as the Jazz graduate
assistant. Throughout Northeastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, John is a
freelance guitarist and guitar instructor. John has served as an instructor
for the Slippery Rock University Arts Academy Camp, Brass Instructor for
Lakeview High School and Assistant Band Director at McDonald High School.

Originally from New Castle, Pennsylvania, John attended Slippery Rock University
and earned a Bachelor of Music in Music Education with an emphasis on classical
trumpet in 2010. As a student at SRU, John performed in a variety of groups
including the Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band and Brass
Ensemble.

John has performed in Paris, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the North Sea Jazz
Festival, the University of Notre Dame Jazz Festival and the Elmhurst College
Jazz Festival. In 2012, John performed in a special performance of Dave Morgan's
"Way of the Sly Man" at the Lakeland Jazz Festival alongside Jamey Haddad, Jack
Schantz and Howie Smith. John has also performed with Kurt Elling, Dave Samuels,
Antonio Hart, The Four Freshmen, Paul McKee, Gary Smulyan, Harold Betters and
Michael Philip Mossman.

John has studied with Dave Morgan, Steve Hawk, Francois Fowler, Ken Karsh, Kent
Engelhardt, Jason Kush, Eric Susoeff, Max Schang, Ryan Ubry, Mike Anthony and
Adam Rogers.

John is an active musician in Youngstown, Ohio and the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
area, playing with The Penguins in Bondage, ReCover, The Happy Endings and The
Passing FADS.


Show:
A crowd of around 100 watched this outstanding performance. The subdued crowd, ideal
acoustical conditions and great mix were all nice bonuses which made for a quality capture
from my position just to the right of the mixing console.
