We went to this show because neither of us had seen Zappa while he was alive, and I was intrigued enough by the hologram concept to check it out. I was pretty impressed by the whole thing, although it was odd to have a videoscreen take up center stage for the entire concert.

The good news is, unlike the Dio, Michael Jackson and Tupac holograms this one was on stage for more than a couple of songs. He even conducted three songs he didn't perform on, with his back to the audience in a while tailled coat. The CGI was really well done considering how much they had to match to get the guitar solos to look real. Even his foot with the wah pedal was accurate to the audio.

This audio was taken from a 1974 show where Frank turned his rehearsal space into a soundstage and preformed a show for cameras, a document that was never released (or picked apart by FZ to make other albums from) and sat in the UMRK vaults until now. It's nice to see that they used unreleased performances, and I wasn't going to see something where I could go "Hey I know that solo from YCDTOS Vol 2!"
