"When I was on the Central NY bar bad circuit as part of Revolving Door, one of our competitor bands was called Free Beer & Chicken. They never had trouble drawing a crowd. (http://www.shotinthedark.info/wp/?p=457)

Free Beer & Chicken was a mainstay of places like Valentines. The band was very polished and tight. They mostly played originals, rock-oriented with some funky jamming. Eventually, the band changed its name to Okemah and shifted towards folk and roots oriented music. (That's from the band's old website, http://www.okemahmusic.com, which is defunct. There is also a German band of the same name: http://www.freebeerandchicken.de/ This ain't them.)

This is a great recording that picks up enough of the room to feel like a live concert, but the music is front and center. This stuff will keep your attention and your toes tapping. Most of the song titles could be guessed from the lyrics, probably. The list of musicians comes from the band's old website. The first track is probably the opening artist who is mentioned at the end of track 4, but the name is inaudible.

Enjoy!
